“…the madmen who are running this show will take this as far as you allow them to…”
What does the above quote mean? It means this will keep progressing until people take to the streets like they did in Vietnam and most importantly of all, it will continue until the media begins covering the outrage of the people protesting on said streets. Unfortunately, neither of these things will ever happen and we will continue to watch these YouTube videos, nod in agreement, then go back to whatever it was we were doing before.
We can only hope that with the rise of technology and social media, that people might have a fighting chance at stopping this train-wreck before it happens. It worked for the Arab Spring in that the whole world saw what was happening in real-time, which makes me think there is a reason why gun legislature in the United States is taking such a “corrective” course. I am not one rooting for a bloody revolution, as I don’t think it’s necessary, but it’s not hard to draw a parallel between these issues. I’m sure the amount of weapons in the U.S. in comparison to some of the Arab countries that have recently gone under regime chance is quite large. It’s a recipe for disaster stateside and I hope it never comes to that level of violence, but the only way to avoid that is to vote with your heart, not in fear of what “the other guy” will do if he wins. We need a third, fourth, and fifth political party in this country. Get out the vote! Start with your own municipality and help organize your communities. This will pave the road for change on a national level… ’cause in the end, it all starts with you!
