Having fiercely loved 3 women in his life, Lucian continued to step forward in hopes of someday finding just one more…one more chance at love. There was however, something that he could not escape; he knew the truth that haunted him, that with each passing love and gifting of his heart something was lost in the process. It became painful to try again after each failed attempt, and he feared not having much left to give. There was so little to give in fact, that there was hardly enough remaining for himself. Lucian didn’t mind the darkness that draped over his life these days, but he didn’t rather enjoy it either. It was more of a reality that slowly began creeping in after the first love had ripped through his youth. It was the most emotional of loves, and it was the most innocent of loves. It was the one that abruptly awoke Lucian to his surroundings, the realities of life. The one love that cemented the cold, hard fact that people aren’t perfect and that you can’t change them no matter how much you wish otherwise. In his youth, Lucian had a notion that he was destined for great things. That somehow there was a fate that would undeniably play itself out regardless of his own choices through the course of his life. With the shattering of expectations and rude awakening to his new truth, Lucian had no choice but to accept it as such. He mourned for a long while, which in the end amounted to more years than he thought best. Lucian continued, even if rather seldomly, to revisit the pain and confusion his first love left him with. Somehow, out of the blue, in the midst of the painful years of mourning the loss of his first love there came a second. It came quick and full of kindness, almost as if a rescue was underway. In the beginning of his first love, Lucian had thought her an Angel, almost in the literal sense. His second love however, not only was an angel, but continues to be one to this day. This is one with whom Lucian knew he could always reach out to and would never be shunned away. Lucian had never been loved as fiercely as he had with her.
